HOUSEWIFE HOEDOWN, Episode 20: All About New Jersey

Video streaming by Ustream

Sorry for my relative lack of posts today. I had to go to the Genius Bar at the Beverly Center, and the process took longer than expected. The good news is that my trusty genius Evan was amazing and fixed everything that I needed (including an issue with Dropbox, which certainly is beyond the call of duty). The bad news is that it took a while longer than expected. Add a trip to the Indian market, an impromptu cocktail with Sly, and a last minute attempt to cook chicken for a pot luck, and one can see why this blog has been quiet all day. Basically, I have poor time management skills.

Of course, one of the major reasons I haven’t been around today is because I went to Santa Monica to tape another episode of Housewife Hoedown with my friends Matt Whitfield and Ronnie Karam. This was by far the most fun yet on the show, helped largely by the Skinnygirl Margaritas that Matt brought in. On this episode we talked mainly about the epic Real Housewives of New Jersey premiere as well as the latest New York City and Orange County episodes. We had a blast. Hope you do too!

Dining at Hollywood’s Boho, Version 2.0

IMG_1834.jpg

Here in Hollywood, the most revered movie theater is not Grauman’s Chinese Theater but instead the Arclight Cinemas on nearby Sunset Boulevard. It’s a great, upmarket destination that draws masses of people every night, and for the past few years, movie patrons could walk around the corner to the neighboring restaurant Boho for some pre or post film eats. Recently, however, Boho packed up shop and moved a few blocks away to the Hollywood & Highland complex, a notoriously unpleasant mall that has been embraced by tourists and shunned by locals. I’m not entirely sure why Boho changed locations, but given that no restaurant has been able to succeed in the Arclight Cinemas complex, I’ll assume it had something to do with high rents and a cumbersome space.

Now Boho sits hidden away in a dark corner, and quite frankly, I didn’t even know it was open for business until my friend Tony at sinosoul.com invited me to partake in a media comped dinner. How could I say no? I had always enjoyed Boho quite a bit, and now that it was a stone’s throw from my apartment, it seemed like it was just begging for me to drop by. However, the real question was this: would Boho 2.0 be strong enough to finally make me a regular at Hollywood & Highland? Answers after the jump…

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NJ PHOTOCAP: Beyond Epic. Beyond.

HW-15.jpg

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is back and better than it has ever been. At last Bravo has gotten it right. Gone is Danielle Staub and the Manzo-centric focus. The show is no longer about recreating the Sopranos. It’s about highlighting the tacky Jersey trash we’ve come to know and love through recent pop culture phenoms like Jersey Shore. And who could be any tackier than Teresa Giudice? The producers have wisely turned the cameras on the Skinny Italian author and her bonkers extended family, and needless to say, we had a brawl within the first three minutes of the premiere. This is what I’m talking about.

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NYC PHOTOCAP: Are Jill and Ramona Dunzo?

HW-02.jpg

HW-02.jpg

I have to admit that midway through the latest episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, I resigned myself to thinking that this would just be one of those humdrum “odds and ends” episodes where nothing too exciting really happens. After all, all that seemed to have been on the docket was Sonja’s not-so-hot masquerade “ball” and Cindy’s trip to the dentist. But then out of nowhere came a loud, shrill fight between Ramona and Jill, and we were right back on track with the craziness. Gotta love these women: four years in, and they still can’t stop themselves from clawing each other’s eyes out.

Introducing The Coolest T-Shirt Ever (If I Do Say So Myself)

IndianJones with our custom t-shirts.

Once a year, the fine (and entirely way too cold and rainy) city of San Francisco hosts a race called Bay To Breakers, wherein several people run across the city… and everyone else dresses up in costumes and drinks their asses off. I’d heard from my friend IndianJones that it was a blast; so I decided to head up to the City by the Bay this weekend to partake in the action. Now I’m here, and even better: so are blog regulars Malibu Judie and Sly (as well as our other friend who wishes to remain 100% anonymous). The only thing missing is a group costume. Well, we weren’t really planning on going all out, but as it turns out, IndianJones’s friends have all adopted a British theme; so in the spirit of all things Royal Wedding and such, our little group decided to design t-shirts for the occasion. Our fine work after the jump.

And yes, this is all very self-congratulatory, but we’re just really really excited about these t-shirts…

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY PREVIEW: Meet Melissa Gorga

melissa-gorga.jpg

The new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey premieres on Monday, and we have two new preview clips. The first, above, introduces us to Melissa Gorga, who happens to be Teresa Giudice’s sister-in-law. She seems nice enough, but after the jump, check out a second video in which Teresa dishes the dirt. I’m getting excited…

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE PHOTOCAP: A Crying Mess

apprentice-01.jpg

The past two weeks of Celebrity Apprentice have been epic, starting with Nene and Star’s massive brawl and ending with, well, Meat Loaf and Star’s massive brawl. In the middle we have laughter and tears — but mostly tears, thanks to Mr. Loaf’s highly emotional turn as Project Manager. Nearly everything caused him to bawl on camera, a wondrous sight that reminded us of how many layers of crazy this spectacular season has. It almost makes you forget the Warwick-Busey era. Almost.

Bunny Dressage Is Real and Ready To Take Over

bunny-dressage.jpg

There’s a new sensation sweeping Europe, and I’m thinking it’s about to take over America (or at least those strange places in the South where overweight moms on scooters send their toddlers into pageants). I’m talking about bunny dressage, an activity that The Daily Mail reported about two weeks ago. I have no idea if this story has already gone viral or not, but I just read about it today, and I am more than intrigued.

Basically, people make their pet bunnies jump over a wide variety of obstacles, much like horses do in equestrian events. And that’s it. What more do you need to know?

Should you want to see the rabbits in action, check out a video after the jump, as well as a link to the original article.
