A box just arrived at my door. I have a feeling I know what’s inside, but I can’t be sure. If my suspicions are correct, I’ll be in for a wonderful treat.

Come take this journey with me as I open the box…

I instinctually paw at the box, thinking that somehow it will open up at my tactile urging.

Soon I must resort to something sharper to get into this impenetrable fortress.

The deed is done. What monster lies behind these flaps? (Insert haunted house creaking doors sound here)

Suspense builds as I slowly unsheathe my package. What could it be???

Wait for it…

WAIT FOR IT…

Girl Scout Cookies!!

IMG_0181.jpg
Two boxes of Thin Mints and two boxes of Thanks-A-Lot, the little known offering that my friend Meeshie CLAIMED was no longer. Unless these are some sort of ghost cookies, looks like I proved HER wrong.

IMG_0182.jpg
For those who know not of the Thanks-A-Lots, they come with chocolate on one side…

IMG_0183.jpg
And shortbread on the other (with “thank you” written in various languages).

I like these cookies because not only are they chocolatey, but they have a vaguely sarcastic/passive-aggressive name. Thanks-A-Lot indeed!

And thanks-a-lot to my supplier, Sadie!

  1. Oh you lucky dog, I was just thinking about them damn thin mints today, damn damn damn those girl scouts!!!

    1. Box of cookies? As one singualr box of cookies or a box filled with boxes of cookies?

  2. I think it’s cool that you guys have the same GS bakery out there that we do in Virginia. There are actually different bakeries that make the cookies (I just found this out this year during cookie sales) and that’s why some have Caramel Delights and others have Samoas (when they are practically the same things).

I have to say that as much as I enjoy the Thanks-a-Lots, we HATE the new packaging. Last year they came in a box just like all the other cookies and this year the bag which is even less recycle-friendly. Girl Scout FAIL.

    1. HATE the packaging also! You can’t close it! I’ll probably have to put the whole thing in a sealable bag, which is even more wasteful.

      THANKS-A-LOT.

      1. That was the main complaint from everyone who complained about it. That there is no way to reseal it, so either you eat the whole box of cookies (and blow the diet for the day) or you have to find another way to package them. Makes no sense at all.

  3. I’ve not seen the Thanks A Lot cookies before. They make me think of a carebear for some reason…..

  4. Never heard of the “Thanks-a-Lots” here either–are they new, old or regional? (I’m gussing regional, as I was a functioning GS back in the ’60s and ’70s, and never saw ’em then, and my aunt was a regional director through the ’70s and ’80s, and never saw them then, either…)

    Also, by MAIL?! From where?

    1. They are fairly new. I think we’ve been selling them for maybe 3 years now? My daughter enjoys them because each cookie has a “Hello” in a different language, so she feels like she speaks lots of different languages now… 😉 But the weird package is new for this year. Again, I can’t say enough bad things about how everyone hates it.

  5. Oh MY, please share the info, how do you get GS cookies by mail.

I really really want those Samoa cookies, but can’t seem to find any GS troops around here 🙁
