On the seventh anniversary of September 11th, the History Channel will be airing 102 Minutes That Changed America, a documentary that culls amateur footage of the World Trade Center attacks and presents it in near real-time. If it’s as intense as the above promotional clip  and I’m sure it is, if not more so  then it should be a fairly harrowing experience.
The special airs at 9:00 PM EST, and for more information, click here.

Well thanks a lot! You made me cry at work! Seriously though, i did tear up. And I hadn’t heard about this show so I thank you for mentioning it. I will set the DVR when I get home tonight.
That was moving. I’m all ferklempt.
I will watch this for sure. Thanks for the heads-up, B-Side.
I know, sorry. I started watching the clip thinking it would be merely interesting, but by the end I was all sorts of choked up.
Intense. Coverage of that day still gives me goosebumps…I, too, got teary from this clip.
I just set my DVR for the entire show tonight.
Every evening of 9/11, I watch “9/11,” the documentary about a rookie firefighter, who’s camera guys caught every minute of that terrible day, from the INSIDE of the towers. Unbelievable footage and that day, seen from the firefighters’ perspective. If you’ve not seen it, I highly recommend it.
That being said, it may get bumped tonight by this show. I feel an odd responsibility to make sure that I do something to make me vividly remember that day. I guess it’s my one-person tribute to support all those affected by that horror.
Thanks B-Side. I just how to go close my door because I started crying at my desk, which is located about 1.5 blocks from ground zero, which is still a gaping hole in the ground and in the hearts of all New Yorkers.
Despite the fact it will rip my guts out, I will be watching this.
HicksPub, that documentary by the two French brothers is remarkable. It is amazing how these 2 small-time documentarians just happened to be filming a documentary about a rookie firefighter and actually FILMED THE FIRST PLANE GOING INTO THE WTC, and then rushed to the scene. Fate made them witnesses to history, and hell on earth. The most chilling part of it is that throughout their film, up to the point of 9/11, numerous firefighters in that fire house commented on the fact it had been way too quiet all summer and how that usually portended something really bad happening.
Oh, wow. That little girl at the end really got to me. Anyway, I hadn’t heard about this before, but I’ll be watching it.
I live and work in DC, not far from the Pentagon. All I remember clearly from that day are the sirens, the Blackhawks *everywhere,* and that horrible feeling of sheer, utter vulnerability.
I wound up watching the History Channel documentary and was glad to discover that it was the first time I could watch anything related to 9/11 without feeling traumatized. It was really well done. It was actually rather fascinating to see from the vantagepoint of time and distance, knowing everything we know now about what was happening that day.
It was also the first time I’d ever seen the raw footage of the second plane hitting the WTC. The sight took me right back to the emotions of that day. God, those poor people. I’ve never been able to stop thinking about the innocent people on those planes. They had no way out.
I watched this over the weekend as well. It’s the first time I remember seeing anything that actually showed people jumping off the first tower hit and people hanging out of the windows. That and hearing the calls of the 911 operators telling people to stay inside the building, that help was coming, was awful.
I have been watching for a replay of this program.
If anyone hears of one please post it here so I can see it.
Thank you.
