Today is opening day for baseball, and in honor of this momentous event, I’ve not only published an extremely generic and clichéd blog headline, but I’ve also compiled some photos from Friday night when I went to a Dodgers vs. Red Sox exhibition game here in Los Angeles. Spearheading this trip was my friend IndianJones, who got tickets for me, J-Unit, and our friend Dan. I wouldn’t say that baseball is my favorite sport, but going to the stadium is always fun, and as I’m once again embroiled in a fantasy baseball league, it couldn’t hurt to watch a game here and there. (Oddly enough, even though I’m fairly apathetic about baseball, I’ve actually won my league twice in the past four years. Crossing my fingers for the dynasty in 2008…)
Anyway, assorted pics from the night after the jump.
Here’s the baseball diamond. We arrived somewhere in the first or second inning; so I unfortunately do not have any stories about whoever sang the National Anthem.
Oooh… ACTION!
Here’s a closer look at the pitcher. He may be a professional, but he’s got nothing on my Wii Sports skillz.
Some chump named Manny Ramirez.
Kevin Youklis. He’s on my fantasy team — hence the special photo. You best be playing well for me, Youklis.
As the arrows indicate, the Red Sox were not a particularly strong draw this evening.
People were bundled up, thanks to the frigid sixty degree weather. I, however, was only in a long sleeve t-shirt. Don’t get me wrong though: I was damn cold.
That’s right — it’s a baseball.
The most popular snack amongst our group were the Gordon Biersch garlic fries. They were awesome, but somewhat messy, as evidenced by the small colony of crumbs sprouting up on IndianJones’s jacket.
IndianJones proudly sported his Red Sox hat. I felt happy for him. He needed something to look forward to after that DISASTROUS PATRIOTS LOSS IN THE SUPERBOWL. Haha. He hates reading that, and he’s clearly reading this post right now.
My first attempt to photograph the stadium phenomenon that is THE WAVE.
The second time was more successful; although, as you can see, IndianJones is performing a slight variation of the standard wave. His version is called The Corporate Wave. It’s the same as the regular wave, but with the added flair of a tightly clutched Blackberry.
The grounds crew.
The seventh inning stretch.
The ancient Jumbotron.
And finally, THE END. Dodgers win, 3-1.
doggers suck.
Thanks Admin. Good Post
Des infos comme ça, je prends volontiers 😉
