When Ramona Singer of The Real Housewives of New York City announced that she’d launched her own brand of Pinot Grigio, I knew I had to try it. The wine, aptly named Ramona Pinot Grigio (as opposed to something silly like ‘TRUE Pinot Grigio’) isn’t available in stores on the West Coast, but as luck would have it, I just spent the weekend in New York City, and there was no way I was going to leave the island of Manhattan without getting my hands on a bottle of RPG. Sure enough, after some phone calls, I tracked down a bottle on 68th street and Lex. Not longer after, the skies opened up, and as the rain came down, my friends and I declared it the perfect opportunity to cozy up inside and enjoy the Ramona Pinot Grigio experience.
Pics and impressions after the jump…
My friend Lbucha and I brandish the bottle in front of the TV, which not so coincidentally features an image of Ramona showing off her wine to Alex.
The bottle, which we chilled in Lbucha’s awesome six-minute wine chiller (the gray thing seen in the background). I want one now.
My wine glass, conveniently labeled should there be any confusion later on.
Lbucha enjoys a sip from a champagne flute.
And now I take my sip.
Survey says…
Pretty good!
I enjoyed the crisp, subtle flavor. Lbucha called it watery and inoffensive but then noted that that’s her impression of Pinot Grigio in general. My friends David and Meeshie, who was also present, enjoyed the wine too (but admittedly Meeshie preferred a nearby Sauvignon Blanc more). Did it blow our socks off? Not really, but I wouldn’t be lying if I said I wanted to have more. In fact, I liked it more than the aforementioned Sauvignon, but that’s also because I prefer Pinot Girgio more than Sauvignon Blanc. Clearly personal bias plays a role.
I would definitely purchase the wine again, and at $13.00, it won’t break the bank. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are cheaper varieties that are just as enjoyable.
Nice job, Ramona!
You sure have some pretty female friends!
OMG, David and Meeshie were there too??? Do their glasses have name labels too? You better make one quick! Ahhh. That would be so declasse if they don’t have name labels. OMG, and what if Ronnie comes by…will his cup have a name label too? This is a disaster!
Would it be a glassaster?? teehee 😉
I don’t like Pinot Grigio, but that apartment looks awesome!
ohmygoodness!!!
I can’t wait for her pinot nu-awr!
As my insomnia and I read this at 3:30 this morning I said to myself “Self, you know who will love this apartment (besides self)? It’s derder.” Now, as a huge wine drinker, emphasis on the drinker, not the wine, I look forward to this bit of Ramona marketing wizardry . In my VERY exclusive world of Two Buck Chuck (don’t kid your cheap ass, that shizz is like $5 now) and Tisdale (still $3.99, haaa-aaay!!!) a nice Pinot Grigio Ramona will seem like a frakkin’ vintage Châteauneuf-du-Pape. I’ve been told “In this weather? You’re drinking Pinot Grigio?” Bitch please, it’s only vulgar if you let it.
