Glee: Season 2, Volume 1 hits stores tomorrow, but rather than fork over your hard-earned money on the DVD set, I’m offering you the chance to win a copy for free! That’s right: Fox was kind enough to send me the DVDs (they’re in my hands at this very MOMENT), and now I want to pass it along to one of you Gleeks out there in cyberspace.

The rules of the game are simple. In the spirit of Glee and singing, submit your favorite YouTube cover of any song. It should be singing — not some guitar solo. Post a link to the vid (as well as the original song) in the comments. I’ll check out the submissions, and in the end, my favorite will win the DVDs!

The contest closes Friday at 3 PM PST. Get crackin’! And be sure to retweet this on Twitter! (You can follow me at http://twitter.com/bsideblog)

Due to spam filters, this blog software may think your submissions are spam. Don’t worry if your comment doesn’t immediately appear…

  1. I have no idea whether you’ll like this (depending on your fondness – or lack thereof – for noisy experimental pop stormers) but it’s always been my favourite example of someone taking a song, turning the tempo on it’s head and pulling melody and pathos out of something that, on the surface, appeared to have neither (even though the original is one of my favourite pop songs of all time). That was a really long sentence.

  2. Like most of the world, I am a huge Glee fan. My son was in show choir in high school and learned a few things about how it wasnt necessarily cool to show your artisitc or musical chops in a mainstream high school. So ala Glee, he performed a version of Flo Rida’s song LOW a few years ago for a talent competition. What it lacks in professionalism and guitar skill it more than makes up for because he slowed it down and made it completely and utterly awesome. There is also the part that this is my son… 🙂

Whoo hoo – hope I win
