Last month, the good people at Jim Beam contacted me about their new product, Red Stag black cherry bourbon. They offered to send me free booze, and of course, who was I to turn that down (memo to other companies: feel free to send me similarly complimentary bottles of spirits). Anyway, this very adult shwag arrived recently, and last night, I finally got around to tasting the stuff, along with my pal IndianJones. Pictures of this momentous occasion after the jump…
Me posing with the box of Red Stag. My excitement knows no bounds. The box is curiously light though…
What lies beyond the door? I shall soon find out…
Oooh! A press kit! And some very, very small bottles of bourbon. Eh, I guess I can’t really expect to get 750 ml of the stuff (BUT IT WOULD BE NICE, FUTURE ALCOHOL SUPPLIERS).
The press kit comes with this magnetic message board. It’s supposed to be charming, but I hate deer, on account of growing up with them darting in front of my car every five seconds.
Magnetic poetry! Me likey.
Cocktail suggestions. I made none of these, but only because I lacked the appropriate mixers.
And, of course, here is the shooter of Red Stag.
Finally, it’s time to drink. Since bourbon is a classy libation, I dress up for the occasion.
Well, dressed up only a little.
Two ice-filled glasses are prepped. One for me. One for IndianJones.
The grand opening.
The pouring.
The continued pouring.
An exciting moment for all involved.
At last it’s time to sample.
A wholly unnecessary stupid face by me.
The first sip…
My reaction. To be fair, I make this face whenever I drink whiskey of any sort.
IndianJones prepares for his swig.
But first he must gaze lovingly on his Patriots.
Now he drinks.
Processing.
He likes it!
Me after another sip. It’s actually not bad. VERY sweet. And slightly syrupy. However, once the ice dissolves, it tastes much better.
Going in for more.
Yes, I’m happier with it now that the ice has melted. And for some reason I’m pointing at the TV.
I took this picture only because it’s IndianJones standing next to a girl who’s similarly blurred out on TV.
Now back to the game with our glasses of Red Stag in hand.
Cheering at nothing in particular.
IndianJones professes his man-crush on Tom Brady.
I, of course, gloat when Tom throws a huuuuge interception two seconds later. Heh.
Fun times had by all. Thanks to Jim Beam for providing the libations!
So a Jesse eviction, a live show taping, AND free booze? Everything’s coming up B-Side.
(and it’s funny that Indian Jones’ face was on national television, yet is still blurred out here) 🙂
You can see b-side and IndianJones on the Julie/Jessie long interview, too.
Can there be a bigger dork than Jessie? (well, the three witches left in the house were VERY dorky about Jessie’s demise last night.)
Glad you liked the free booze. Somehow when it’s free it’s tastes better.
Too bad IndianJones is a Pats fan.
yeah, especially since the pats SUCK
tie and shorts. cover me, I’m going in on that style.
Oh IndianJones — Tom Brady.? really.?
What a shame.
hb
I love that you were watching the Eagles game in LA, yet I was unable to view it living in DELAWARE. Oh television market restrictions.
I’m not just a pats fan, but a pats SUPERFAN!! And a proud member of RED SOX NATION!
yes, I am that Boston fan. And proud of it.
this was excellent, b-side, as always. i always think of bruce campbell when i see your photos, but in this post, it’s so uncanny that i couldn’t help but comment on the resemblance!
do you ever sit and relax in your home?
Is that a box of wine behind you in your first “dressed up” picture. I dig a guy that can appreciate both the high-end and low-end joys of life!
IndianJones, don’t you know the Steelers are THE team? 🙂
